Police and/or Social Services should immediately be notified if abuse is suspected. These individuals have the knowledge and expertise to properly question the child and make the appropriate referrals. Reporters can make the report anonymously if they desire to do so.
The police department should be called when a child is in imminent danger. The police will take immediate action to remove the child from harm and turn them over to Child Social Services.
